We are adding a Senior Mortgage Underwriter to support both our Retail and Wholesale channels. This is a live-file underwriting role responsible for reviewing, decisioning, and clearing loans through Clear-to-Close in a fast-paced environment. We need a Senior Mortgage Underwriter with an active DE/CHUMS, LAPP/SAR, and very strong Non-QM underwriting experience.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite Conventional, FHA, VA, Jumbo, Bond, and Non-QM loans
• Manage files from initial decision through Clear-to-Close (CTC)
• Exercise VA LAPP/SAR authority, including Notice of Value (NOV) issuance
• Underwrite Non-QM programs (Bank Statement, DSCR, Asset Utilization, ITIN)
• Analyze complex incom,e including self-employed borrowers
• Partner with Retail Loan Officers and Wholesale brokers
• Maintain SLA turn times while protecting credit quality
• Work with Loan Originators to restructure loans
• Respond to underwriting scenario desk inquiries
  

Required Skills & Experience

• 5 years current front-line underwriting experience
• 2 years hands-on Non-QM underwriting
• Active VA LAPP/SAR designation (required)
• Strong DU/LP and manual underwriting knowledge
• FHA DE certification
• Advanced self-employed income analysis skills
• Advanced rental income analysis skills
• Experience in Encompass or comparable LOS
• Ability to manage production pipeline independently
• Strong understanding of secondary market requirements
• Ability to respond to investors and government agencies to resolve deficiencies that may arise
• Team player with a strong commitment to customer service
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
