Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire medical billing process from patient registration, insurance verification, charge entry, claim submission, payment posting, to follow-up and collections.
- Ensure accurate and timely billing of all medical services.
- Review and appeal unpaid and denied claims.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and company information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Analyze and interpret complex insurance explanations of benefits (EOBs), remittance advices, and denial notifications.
- Provide consulting services to our clients on best practices for medical billing, coding, and collections.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in insurance regulations and guidelines, including Medicaid and Medicare.
- Train and mentor junior staff on medical billing procedures and software.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure billing accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, clinical staff, and management to resolve any billing issues or discrepancies.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the billing process and increase revenue.
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical billing, with a focus on collections, Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance guidelines.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) is preferred.
- Proficient in medical billing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT coding.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent knowledge of healthcare billing regulations, compliance, and reimbursement.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Ability to interpret and analyze complex billing data.
- Proven track record of improving the billing process and increasing revenue.
