Currently seeking a IP Paralegal. The IP Paralegal will report directly to the Associate General Counsel for Corporate and Business Innovation, and will be responsible for handling a number of tasks to primarily support the Patent Team. This role will drive a wide range of intellectual property support matters related to patents, trademarks, copyrights, litigation, and anti-counterfeiting efforts. This will include portfolio and docket management, clearance searches, usage guidelines, and other intellectual property related responsibilities. In addition, this role will provide general legal support to the Corporate and Business Innovation team as needed. Success in this role requires business focus and a desire to become fully immersed in products, services, operations, and culture.

Job Details
Responsible for handling a variety of tasks to support Patent Team, as well as other tasks as required by Business Innovation and Corporate Team
Shaping and managing the IP Portfolio, including docketing and processing Office communications
Collaborate with our global IP team to develop an IP strategy and process across brands and regions.
Communication with internal and external counsel on US and international filings and IP prosecution matters
Participate in global trademark searches in collaboration with in-house counsel to identify trademark, design, and copyright issues
Identify availability of trademarks, taglines, product names, logos, and other consumer facing content
Generalized IP litigation support
Assist with due diligence and other IP issues related to agreements or other transactional matters
Assist with compliance, corporate governance policies, and supervisory procedures
Review outside counsel and other vendor invoices for accuracy and process payment of same
Provide research, legal and technical support for the Legal Department
Willingness to proactively take on and assist with administrative tasks such as preparing correspondence and presentations; producing, editing, and reformatting documents; managing calendars; coordinating meetings and logistics; scheduling and managing travel; preparing expense reports
Knowledge You Should Bring
Bachelor's degree in related field or graduation from an ABA approved program for legal assistants or paralegals
Minimum of 3 years of experience working in patents (utility and design)
Understanding of the patent process from invention disclosures to payment of annuity fees and strong understanding of US patent rules
Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
Good oral and written communication skills required
High degree of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
Understanding of and experience with trademarks and copyright
Experience with international patent rules
Experience in the automotive industry a plus
Previous experience in a large manufacturing company preferred.
