Job Details
The estimator will prepare detailed, competitive bids for commercial, industrial, and institutional concrete projects, including foundations, flatwork, and structural concrete. They review blueprints, perform quantity takeoffs, analyze material costs, and secure vendor pricing to ensure projects are profitable and on budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Quantity Takeoffs: Perform precise material takeoffs from blueprints, including concrete volume, reinforcement steel (rebar), and formwork.
Bid Preparation: Develop "ground up" cost estimates, including labor, equipment, and material pricing, ensuring competitive bids.
Subcontractor & Supplier Liaison: Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure cost-efficient pricing.
Site Evaluation: Visit job sites in PA, NJ, and DE to determine existing conditions and determine the scope of work.
Cost Analysis: Review project plans for inconsistencies and provide value engineering options
Job Requirements:
Industry Expertise: Experience in concrete construction, specifically with foundations and flatwork, is necessary.
Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret complex structural drawings and specifications.
Software Proficiency: Familiarity with estimating software.
Attention to Detail: Ability to produce accurate, detailed estimates for high-stakes projects.
