Job Details
The Construction Accountant will play a key role in managing project financials, ensuring accuracy in job costing, and supporting leadership with timely reporting and analysis. This position requires hands-on experience in construction accounting practices, including Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and percentage-of-completion accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and monitor job cost accounting for multiple active projects
Prepare and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules
Apply percentage-of-completion accounting methods in accordance with industry standards
Track project budgets, costs, and profitability, identifying variances and providing insights
Manage project billing processes, including progress billing and client invoicing
Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate cost tracking and forecasting
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes related to project financials
Support audits and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3 years of construction accounting experience, preferably with a general contractor
Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting
Experience with construction billing processes (AIA billing experience is a plus)
Proficiency in accounting software and Excel
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a high-growth construction environment
Familiarity with ERP systems commonly used in construction (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, Foundation)
