Responsibilities
As an Assistant Controller, your primary responsibilities will include
- Assisting the Controller in managing all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
- Preparing and reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Assisting in the preparation of monthly financial statements, ensuring they are completed in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
- Assisting with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Ensuring compliance with GAAP principles.
- Assisting with the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, and report variances.
- Participating in preparation for the annual audit.
- Assisting in developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Liaising with our Finance and Operations teams to improve financial procedures.
- Assisting with special projects as required by management.
To be successful in this role, you will need
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and other accounting principles.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
