Job Summary
The Head Housekeeper is responsible for managing and coordinating all housekeeping operations to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and guest satisfaction. This role includes supervising housekeeping staff, maintaining inventory, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise, train, and motivate the housekeeping team to deliver excellent service.
- Schedule and assign daily cleaning duties for staff.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
- Address staff performance issues and provide ongoing feedback and coaching.
2. Cleaning & Maintenance Standards
- Ensure all areas meet brand or property cleanliness standards.
- Implement and monitor cleaning checklists and deep-cleaning schedules.
- Report maintenance issues promptly and coordinate with the maintenance department.
- Oversee laundry operations and linen inventory.
3. Administration & Inventory Control
- Manage stock levels of cleaning supplies, linens, and guest amenities.
- Prepare and manage housekeeping budgets, including cost control and purchasing.
- Maintain accurate records for lost and found, room status, and staff attendance.
4. Guest Service
- Respond promptly to guest requests and complaints regarding housekeeping services.
- Coordinate with front office and other departments to ensure smooth room turnover.
- Maintain a professional, courteous demeanor at all times.
5. Health, Safety, and Compliance
- Enforce compliance with hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure staff follow COSHH and PPE procedures (if applicable).
- Ensure all cleaning equipment is maintained and used safely.
