Shift Time: 12-hr Night
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation
- Administer medications and injections accurately in accordance with physician orders and safety protocols
- Monitor patients' conditions continuously, utilizing telemetry and other diagnostic tools to detect changes requiring intervention
- Assist with invasive procedures such as catheterization, suturing, and specimen collection while maintaining aseptic technique
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with patient needs
- Document all patient interactions and clinical activities meticulously within electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding treatment plans, medication management, and post-discharge care instructions
- Manage acute pain and participate in trauma or emergency response procedures within Level I or Level II trauma center settings
- Support discharge planning processes by coordinating with case management and ensuring compliance with healthcare standards such as NCQA
- Uphold infection control practices and adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
Skills
- Proven experience working in medical-surgical units with proficiency in EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to adult patient care
- Skilled in IV infusion, venipuncture, catheter care, and sterile processing techniques
- Familiarity with complex clinical procedures including dialysis access management, ostomy care, and ventilator management
- Ability to perform physical examinations accurately and assess patient condition effectively
- Experience with critical care environments such as ICU or PACU is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and patient education
- Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, laboratory procedures, and diagnostic evaluation processes
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in fast-paced settings such as emergency rooms or urgent care centers
