As an Expert/Principal Software Engineer, you will take ownership of complex software development initiatives, contributing across architecture, implementation, testing, debugging, and customer-facing problem resolution. You will work on critical infrastructure software while helping improve engineering practices and supporting the growth of technical teams.
- Design, develop, and maintain system software solutions for advanced networking infrastructure.
- Create functional and technical specifications, design documents, test plans, and high-quality implementations.
- Develop software components using C, C , and Python within large-scale Linux-based environments.
- Build and maintain APIs, drivers, and software interfaces for managing hardware devices and system resources.
- Implement automated testing solutions, analyze test results, and resolve software defects.
- Debug complex issues across software, hardware interactions, and customer environments.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to develop solutions for networking infrastructure, including AI-driven networking environments.
- Partner with support and testing teams to investigate issues and deliver reliable fixes and updates.
- Work with open-source technologies, libraries, and tools to enhance software capabilities.
- Review technical designs and code contributions from other engineers.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to improving development processes and technical standards.
- Drive project planning, task estimation, progress tracking, and delivery execution.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in software engineering, systems development, and large-scale infrastructure solutions. You should have strong technical depth, the ability to independently solve complex problems, and experience working across software and hardware environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience with 12 years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree with 10 years; or a Ph.D. with 7 years.
- Strong programming experience with C, C , and Python.
- Extensive experience developing software for Linux-based systems.
- Hands-on experience working with open-source software and contributing to or modifying existing solutions.
- Experience developing Linux drivers, APIs, or software interfaces for hardware and system resources.
- Knowledge of hardware programming, ASICs, or custom hardware environments.
- Experience debugging complex software systems and troubleshooting production issues.
- Understanding of distributed systems concepts, including messaging, signaling, databases, and command-line interfaces.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, architecture, and development best practices.
- Ability to independently design and implement solutions while collaborating effectively within engineering teams.
- Strong communication skills and ability to mentor other engineers.
- Experience with networking concepts, including Layer 2/Layer 3 technologies and switching architectures, is a plus.
