Job Summary
Reporting to the Coordinator of Health Services, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for translating and articulating the health and illness experiences of often vulnerable individuals to health planners and organizational leaders as well as translating knowledge from health and social sciences to individuals and population groups through targeted interventions, programs, and advocacy. The RN must be knowledgeable about multiple strategies for intervention that are applicable to the entire population, small groups, and the individual.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements*
Participates in procedures for the administration, safety, and security of medications, first aid or health supplies, and equipment and refers to health care professionals for medical diagnostic services and treatment as needed
Completes comprehensive, thorough, and timely documentation of all patient care activities in SNAP
Develops and implements programming open to the College and community to address health concerns and promote overall wellness and supports District education, training and reporting efforts related to Title IX, Clery, VAWA, Drug Free Schools for all constituencies
Maintains flexibility to meet the needs of the students, faculty, staff, and contract employees
Develops plans for student care based on assessment, interventions, identification of outcomes, and the evaluation of care and assists with crisis intervention
Serves as a disease prevention specialist working toward occurrences of the flu and other communicable diseases by monitoring immunizations, managing communicable diseases, and assessing the school environment as to prevent injury and ensure safety
Oversees medication administration, health care procedures, infection control measures and the development of healthcare plans
Provides sexual health counseling administers pregnancy tests
Supports patients with chronic disease management
Service Excellence
Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision
Works under the general supervision of the Coordinator of Health Services
Required Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of a Registered Nurse Program
Three (3) years' working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements
Current, unencumbered Texas license issued by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in nursing
Current Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
At least one (1) year's working experience in community nursing
At least one (1) year's working experience in emergency/urgent care
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships, including strong listening, verbal, and written communication
Skilled using computerized applications and enterprise systems, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
Ability to work outside normal hours in support of rotating schedule
