CNC Machine Operator/Shop Manager

Location: Waterloo, NE

Days: Monday-Friday

Hours: 8am-5pm

Pay Rate: $30/hr. depending on experience

A CNC machine operator for countertops fabricates stone, laminate, or solid surface countertops by setting up and running computer-controlled machines to cut, shape, and finish materials. Responsibilities include reading blueprints, programming the machine, ensuring quality control, performing routine maintenance, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Machine operation: Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines (like saws and routers) to cut, shape, and polish stone or other countertop materials according to specifications.
• Blueprint and work order interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to ensure accurate fabrication.
• Quality control: Inspect finished products to verify they meet quality standards, using precision measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers.
• Machine maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, adjust machine settings, and troubleshoot issues to ensure proper operation.
• Material handling: Load and unload heavy materials, often using cranes or team lifts, and inspect materials for defects.
• Safety and cleanliness: Adhere to all safety protocols, maintain a clean work environment, and document any issues.
• Team collaboration: Communicate with other team members, such as fabricators and installers, to ensure production efficiency.

Skills and qualifications

• Experience: Prior experience operating CNC machinery, ideally in a stone or countertop fabrication shop.
• Technical skills: Ability to read blueprints, interpret technical drawings, and understand CNC programming and software.
• Attention to detail: Strong focus on precision and quality.
• Physical ability: Stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy materials.
• Basic knowledge: Familiarity with stone materials (like granite, quartz, and marble) and finishing processes is a plus.
• Computer skills: Proficiency with basic computer applications like MS Office is often required.
• Valid driver’s license
