Shop Foreman – Automotive & Diesel Diagnostics

A day in this role

As evening settles in at our Rosemount shop, you review the repair queue, triage incoming units, and line up assignments so every bay is working efficiently. You jump onto a stubborn diesel drivability issue, verify codes with your scan tool, and coach a tech through an electrical trace. Between road-testing a medium-duty truck and confirming parts ETAs, you’re on the phone with a customer setting clear expectations and with a vendor ensuring a critical component lands tonight. Before clocking out, you confirm inspections are complete, safety-critical items are greenlit, and the team is queued up for success tomorrow.

What you will lead and do

• Own daily shop flow: prioritize work orders, stage jobs, and keep bays turning efficiently
• Assign repairs to mechanics, monitor progress, and see work through to completion
• Perform hands-on service: diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on gas and diesel units
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using scan tools and computer-based programs
• Mentor the team on complex troubleshooting; provide guidance on technique and quality
• Evaluate vehicles, document findings, and recommend immediate and future repairs
• Road test and verify that repairs are completed correctly and safely
• Source, order, and coordinate parts; communicate availability and manage inventory needs
• Interface with customers and ownership on repair status, recommendations, and timelines
• Ensure inspections are completed and critical components are safe and compliant
• Keep the shop safe, organized, and productive; maintain tools and equipment in proper condition
• Jump in on other duties as needed to keep the operation moving
  
  

Who you are

• 7 years of hands-on automotive and/or diesel repair experience (required)
• Deep background with medium-duty trucks, gas vehicles, diesel vehicles, fleets, and commercial equipment
• Prior experience as a Lead Mechanic, Shop Foreman, or supervisor preferred
• Expert diagnostic thinker with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Organized leader who can prioritize, delegate, and keep jobs moving
• Clear communicator with coworkers, customers, vendors, and ownership
• Independent, dependable, and uncompromising on safety and workmanship

Schedule and pay

• Hours: Monday–Friday, 5:00 PM–2:00 AM
• No weekends
• Compensation: $45–$55 per hour (commensurate with experience)
