Position: Groundskeeper / Landscaper

Site Location 720 E San Ysidro Blvd, San Diego, San Ysidro (Land Port of Entry)

Work Hours: Monday thru Friday 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM $ 21.00/Hr

Job Summary: Seeking a Groundskeeper to provide support to maintain the landscape at various locations and for San Ysidro Land Port of Entry. Groundskeeper should have a minimum one-year experience lawn mower, trimming hedges, weed care, garden care and planting flowers, etc. Hands on work experience of lawn and ground equipment is required.

Essential Functions

• Mows grass, edges walkway, pulls weeds (as necessary), waters lawn, trims shrubs, tends flower beds and regularly inspects assigned work areas to ensure proper standards are maintained.
• Operates lawn and ground equipment including self -propelled lawn mowers, weed eaters, vacuums, blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws and other power equipment.
• Plants and maintains exterior and interior landscaping in accordance with the landscaping plan.
• Will assist in maintaining irrigation systems to properly water all landscape
• Will perform periodic maintenance on equipment to ensure it is functioning properly.
• Moves heavy objects up to 50 pounds short distances. Bending, stooping and kneeling for long periods. Continuous walking and standing. Lifting and operating various pieces of equipment
• Groundskeeper works independently with limited supervision.
• Periodic Regulatory inspections of assigned work in accordance to Government Contract plan.
  
  

Requirements For Consideration

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One (1) Year related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to read and understand service requests, container labels, product information, and directions other materials and processes..
• Must be able to pass Homeland security background check (to include fingerprinting) that may take up to 6 - 8 Weeks and will require providing background information

• State Driver’s License or ID, Social Security Card as (second form of identification)
• Must be able to pass extensive Government Tier 1 Level Background check to qualify for the position.

Knowledge, Skills And Experience Required

Minimum Experience Required: Must have knowledge of at least One (1) year experience working with various landscaping equipment, including, but no limited to lawn mowers, weed eaters, edgers, vacuum blowers, hedge trimmers and many other hand tools including shovels, rakes, hoses, shears, lopes, handsaws, and pole saws.

Skills Required: Must have experience grounds / landscape maintenance and gardening methods, with materials and equipment. Must have knowledge of the operation of motorized and other equipment such as self - propelled mowers, string trimmers, edgers and hedge trimmer. Must have knowledge of proper use of hand tools such as picks, rakes and shovels. Understand and follow oral instructions. Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.

The sign on Bonus of $3000 will be paid out every 3 months in the amount of $750/ Quarter over the first year
