Technician
JOA Surveys LLC, is an Anchorage based land surveying and geospatial firm, specializing in water-level and geodetic services. We are recruiting an organized, responsible, and positive Entry-level Technician who is either currently enrolled in a technical degree program or recently graduated in a related field.
The position is based at our Anchorage warehouse, to assist in the shop, in the field, and data analysis. You will be an essential part of the team, contributing fieldwork, office-based tasks, and shop tasks, under the direct supervision of the Shop Supervisor, and Project Managers.
Employment: Full-time, Seasonal, Temporary (Must be available from May-October)
Period of Employment: ASAP - October 31st
Wages: $18.00 - $21.00/hour DOE'
Key Responsibilities
- Packaging equipment, delivering shipments to the airport, picking up returned shipments, and organizing gear within the shop to maintain seamless operations
- Keep company truck clean and ready for operation (truck oil/fluids checked, tire pressure checked, oil changes etc)
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment ( check tripod bubbles, peg test levels, cobra maintenance, battery test/charging, etc)
- Organize the shop and keep tidy as gear is constantly coming and going
- Expedite materials to local stores and service businesses
Responsibilities (Based on Skill, Interest, and Experience)
- In the field you will assist setting up surveying equipment, and troubleshooting reports
- In the office you will help with writing benchmark descriptions, to be published in the National Ocean Service Online Database
- Assist field crews with equipment deployment and recovery
- Support basic data handling and reporting tasks
- Welding and metal fabrication
- Carpentry and woodworking
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Interest in electronics, science, engineering, or mechanical systems
- Hands-on experience with tools, equipment, or construction preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills
- Self-motivated and reliable, with willingness to learn
- Positive attitude and ability to contribute to a team environment
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean record that meets company insurance requirements
