Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly knowledgeable Licensed Customs Broker to manage customs clearance activities and ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations. This role is responsible for overseeing import documentation, tariff classification, duty calculations, and coordinating with government agencies to facilitate timely and compliant shipments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit customs entries and related documentation
- Ensure compliance with all federal import laws, regulations, and procedures
- Classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and determine applicable duties, taxes, and fees
- Communicate with CBP, FDA, USDA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies as required
- Audit import files for accuracy and compliance; resolve discrepancies and post-entry issues
- Advise internal teams and clients on customs regulations, trade compliance, and best practices
- Monitor regulatory changes and provide guidance on their impact to business operations
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with CBP recordkeeping requirements
- Support customs exams, verifications, and audits
Qualifications
- Active U.S. Customs Broker License (preferred)
- Experience in customs brokerage or trade compliance
- Strong knowledge of CBP regulations, HTS classification, and PGA requirements
- Experience with customs brokerage software.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple entries and meet strict deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with freight forwarders or international logistics providers
- Familiarity with import compliance programs and audits
- Knowledge of Free Trade Agreements and special trade programs
