What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations & Business Support Assistant position at JNB LLC?
JNB is looking for an operations and business support assistant who wants to learn how small businesses actually run not in theory, but in the real, messy, day-to-day version of it.
This is a hands-on role inside a growing multi-business operation.
If you are curious, organized, and genuinely excited by the idea of learning how businesses make money, stay organized, and keep customers happy, keep reading.
WHAT THIS ROLE IS:
This is not a traditional admin role where you sit on the clock and wait for tasks. It is also not an internship where learning is the product.
It is a real working role for someone who wants to grow and is willing to contribute while they do.
You will work across multiple small businesses, touching different areas depending on where help is needed and where your skills are strongest.
Priorities shift.
Tasks won't always come with a complete set of instructions.
That is not a flaw in the role it is the nature of small business, and it is exactly what makes this a valuable place to learn and grow.
Over time, this role can develop in a lot of directions: bookkeeping, operations, client management, marketing, systems, or small business strategy. The opportunity is real.
WHAT YOU MAY HELP WITH:
Depending on client needs and your skill level, work may include:
Bookkeeping & Financial
Bookkeeping support and QuickBooks Online cleanup
Transaction categorization
Bank reconciliation support
AR/AP tracking
Invoice and billing support
Operations & Client Support
Client follow-up for missing information
Scheduling and dispatch support
Estimate follow-up and sales support
Parts and job tracking
Project organization and process documentation
Marketing & Systems
Website updates and marketing support
SEO / Google Business support
General small business operations and systems support
WHO THRIVES IN THIS ROLE:
The right person for this role:
Is curious, asks smart questions, and applies what they learn
Communicates proactively especially when something is running late, off track, or doesn't make sense
Can work independently without needing step-by-step direction every day
Takes ownership of their work and follows through without being reminded
Is comfortable jumping into messy or unclear situations and figuring it out
Treats flexible hours as a privilege, not a default to work at their own pace
Tracks their time honestly
Learns from mistakes instead of repeating them
Wants to understand how and why a business works not just complete a checklist
Protects client trust like it's their own business on the line
You do not need to know everything on day one. You do need to show up consistently, communicate when you are stuck, and produce usable work.
This is probably not the right fit if you need a highly structured environment with defined tasks every day, are uncomfortable when priorities change without notice, or are looking for guaranteed full-time income from the start.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
A successful person in this role makes the business owner's life easier, not heavier.
That means finishing what you start, communicating early when something is off track, leaving clear notes, keeping work moving across multiple clients without dropping balls, and treating every customer regardless of which business they belong to like they matter.
The best signal we can give you: if you read this and think “that’s just how I work” — you’re probably the right fit.
COMPENSATION & GROWTH:
This is a part-time / contract role to start. Hours and compensation depend on experience, availability, reliability, and the value being created together.
For the right person, this grows in hours, responsibility, and compensation across bookkeeping, operations, marketing, systems, client communication, and small business strategy.
We are not promising a high income on day one. We are offering a real opportunity to build one.
TO APPLY
Please complete the applicant skills assessment linked below.
Perfect answers are not required. We are looking for judgment, communication, ownership, and problem-solving. How you think matters more than what you already know.
