The Payroll/HR Specialist manages weekly payroll and certified payroll compliance for two construction companies (approx. 200 employees). This role ensures accurate processing, prevailing wage adherence, and timely reporting across federal, state, and local requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Payroll Processing: Weekly payroll, time tracking, deductions, per diem/travel reimbursements, direct deposit uploads, quarterly/year‑end tax filings, W‑2s, ACA, temp labor reporting, union benefit submissions.
- Certified Payroll: Prepare/submit certified payroll (LCPtracker/eMars), ensure Davis‑Bacon and prevailing wage compliance, verify wages/fringes.
- Benefits & Deductions: 401(k) administration, garnishments/child support, health/dental deductions, PTO tracking.
- Audits & Reporting: Support internal/external audits, union/non‑union compliance reporting, resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Communication: Primary contact for payroll inquiries; collaborate with project managers and accounting.
Qualifications
- Associate/Bachelor in Accounting/Finance preferred.
- 2 years payroll experience with prevailing wage/certified payroll.
- Knowledge of Davis‑Bacon, garnishments, 401(k), and multi‑state payroll.
- Proficient in construction payroll systems; strong Excel skills.
- High accuracy, confidentiality, and communication skills.
