JMG is in search of a full-time Tax Planning Associate. This position will assist our planning team by providing estate and tax planning strategies, preparing tax returns and serving as an internal resource for the SAN advisors. This individual must possess excellent organizational, multi-tasking and communication skills and must be able to work in a fast-paced professional office environment. The position requires proficiency in Microsoft Office and the willingness to learn other business-related software, in which training will be provided. Experience with Excel formulas, CCH, BNA, Orion and related research software is an advantage. The position requires basic knowledge of finance, income taxes, investments, asset allocation and estate planning concepts. The duties of this role would include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prepares and reviews individual and trust income tax returns, including multi-state returns
- Ability to research different planning, investment, and tax issues
- Stays up to date on current tax practices and changes in tax law by conducting research and applying this knowledge to drive informed decision-making
- Utilizes BNA and CCH software to prepare tax returns and personal income tax projections throughout the year
The applicant must have knowledge and interest in the financial planning industry and excellent time management skills with the ability to work effectively on multiple deadline-oriented projects. A successful Tax Planning Associate will need the skills to work effectively in teams as well as independently. The Tax Planning Associate is a non-exempt position and is eligible for a hybrid schedule after an initial training period.
Education: Bachelor’s degree is required in Accounting, Finance, or Business. One to two years relevant experience preferred including relevant internships.
Compensation: Non-Exempt position, eligible for overtime, bonuses and full benefits including health, dental, vision, life, long-term disability and 401(k).
