Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Low Voltage Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a wide range of low voltage systems across commercial and residential sites. Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot low voltage systems including CCTV surveillance, fire alarms, access control, sensors, IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), and telecommunication networks.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately complete system installations.
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on security systems, alarm systems, sensors, and related hardware to ensure optimal performance.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely to perform cabling, conduit bending, termination, and equipment mounting tasks.
- Collaborate with construction teams during building phases to ensure proper cable routing and system integration aligned with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
- Provide exceptional field service support by diagnosing issues remotely or onsite and implementing effective solutions promptly.
- Assist in system design efforts by understanding client needs and recommending appropriate low voltage solutions that meet safety standards and operational requirements.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician or installer specializing in low voltage systems such as CCTV, security alarms, sensors, or telecommunication infrastructure.
- Strong electrical knowledge with hands-on experience in cabling (fiber optic and copper), schematics reading, and system troubleshooting.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with familiarity using hand tools, power tools, and construction practices for system installation.
- Knowledge of computer networking principles including remote access software for system monitoring and management.
- Understanding of security systems including IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), surveillance cameras (CCTV), fire alarms, access control devices, and alarm sales processes is highly desirable.
- Ability to interpret technical schematics and wiring diagrams accurately while adhering to NEC standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to field service challenges.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with clients, team members, and vendors during project execution.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; willingness to travel locally for project sites as needed.
