This position offers a competitive salary in the range of $95,000 - $130,000, which is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Bonus potential is tied to safety performance. Position Overview
The Truck Fleet Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs for a commercial trucking fleet to ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company safety standards. This role focuses on reducing accidents, improving driver performance, and fostering a strong safety culture across a fleet of approximately 120 power units.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and state safety regulations
- Maintain and update company safety policies and procedures in coordination with HR
- Oversee driver onboarding, safety orientation, and ongoing training
- Conduct safety meetings and remedial training
- Monitor driver behavior using telematics, and camera systems
- Lead accident and property damage investigations and root-cause analysis
- Coordinate post-accident testing and documentation
- Work with insurance carriers and legal teams on claims
- Track safety KPIs and prepare reports for leadership
- Partner with operations, dispatch, maintenance, and HR to reinforce safety culture
- Must perform monthly facility and safety inspections
- POC for employee injury reporting
- 5 years’ experience in fleet safety or trucking operations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA/DOT regulations
- Experience managing safety for fleets of 100 trucks
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Must be OSHA certified
- Must be proficient in Microsoft, Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred:
- Safety certifications (CSP-Certified Safety Professional)
- Experience with safety technology platforms
- Familiarity with insurance claims and audits
