The Operating Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining operational excellence for JLL's client facilities. This position focuses primarily on performing preventative and corrective maintenance on a fleet of forklifts and floor scrubbers, while providing backup support for broader facility equipment operations. You will be responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining safe working conditions. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to develop your technical expertise while contributing directly to seamless facility operations and client satisfaction.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Perform corrective maintenance on a fleet of 33 reach trucks and sit-down forklifts, including wheel replacements, hydraulic line replacements, electrical troubleshooting, and maintaining camera and sensor systems
- Execute scheduled preventative maintenance on all forklifts to ensure optimal performance and longevity
- Maintain an inventory of spare parts and order additional parts as needed to support timely repairs
- Provide daily reports of repairs completed and document maintenance activities
- Coordinate with external vendors to perform repairs that cannot be completed in-house and monitor the quality and pricing of their work
- Support Facilities staff as needed on all facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building automation
- Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials and maintain a clean and safe workplace
- 2-4 years of experience maintaining and repairing forklifts
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair a variety of forklift failures, including those resulting from wear and impact events
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to bend, sit, kneel, squat, stand, reach, and lay as required to access equipment components for extended periods of time
- Willingness to work exposed to heat, sunlight, rain, cold, and during both daylight and night-time hours as needed
- Certified Forklift Technician credentials
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience with floor scrubber maintenance and repair
- Familiarity with facility maintenance systems and building equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
