Operating Engineer (HVAC Technician)

About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Operating Engineer (HVAC Technician) to join our Engineering Services team at our Procter & Gamble facility in Mason, OH. In this critical role, you'll be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operation of HVAC and electrical equipment, ensuring optimal building system performance and reliability.
What This Job Involves
You'll maintain and repair HVAC and electrical equipment throughout the building's interior and exterior, installing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical operating equipment and machinery. Your work includes operating, repairing, and maintaining utility plant equipment and associated systems while conducting routine and ongoing assessments of building system operations. You'll perform tests, complete rounds, and analyze data to ensure proper equipment functions, while monitoring the operation of all mechanical and electrical equipment.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
System Maintenance & Repair: You'll maintain and repair refrigeration, kitchen equipment, heat exchangers, HVAC, electrical, and water systems. This includes monitoring operation and adjusting refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment, ventilating and hot water heaters, pumps, valves, piping, filters, and other mechanical and electrical equipment. You'll record readings to ensure proper operation and report any problems or malfunctions. The role requires analyzing system operations, determining the cause of issues, and taking corrective action.
Preventive Maintenance: You'll perform preventive maintenance on all base building and critical system equipment. This includes assembling necessary tools, supplies, and instruments, performing work with minimal disruption, conducting immediate cleanup of work areas, completing preventive task sheets, returning tools to the workshop, storing unused supplies, and reporting supply shortages or equipment problems to the Operations Manager or Chief Engineer.
Documentation & Communication: You'll maintain tools and order supplies as required for installations and repairs. Communication logs, documenting equipment repairs, closing work orders, tracking time accurately in reports, and providing timely communication with the Operations Manager and Chief Engineer are essential aspects of this role.
Safety & Compliance: You'll comply with departmental policy for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials while maintaining a clean and safe workspace.
Required Qualifications
You may be required to successfully complete training and qualification related to the client's programs, or secure licenses required for property operation within one year of start date, including Client Electrical System Owner (ESO), Thermal/Combustion Safety Program, and Process Safety Programs. Training, materials, resources, and time will be provided.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or state equivalent, plus minimum of four years of related trade schooling or two years of college
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in HVAC trade or related field, OR minimum 5 years’ experience in refrigeration trade or related field
- EPA 608 certification
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing packaged air handlers, lab equipment
- Experience working with building automation systems (Siemens, Johnson Controls, etc.) for control of building HVAC systems
- Experience troubleshooting kitchen equipment, ice machines, and refrigeration
- Skilled in use of tools and machinery required by the position
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and local codes
- Familiarity with computer equipment and programs
- Experience with CMMS work order systems
