JLJ IV Enterprises is a heavy civil contractor that specializes in utilities and road reconstruction projects for the city of New York and is well established with more than 25 years of experience in the industry. We are currently recruiting for a Field Engineer to support the successful execution of our projects by providing technical and administrative support to the project management and field supervision teams. 


This role will work closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent and is responsible for assisting with project layout, quality control, documentation, and coordination of construction activities to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, and contract requirements.


JLJIV Enterprises is located in Queens Village, NY with job sites across NYC and this position would be an on-job site role. Key Responsibilities:

  • Track and report quantities of work performed in the field. 
  • Work closely with superintendents, subcontractors, and crews to support daily operations.
  • Assist survey crews with field measurements and stakeout of construction elements.
  • Verify existing conditions and report discrepancies between plans and site conditions.
  • Provide observations, attend safety meetings, and assist Safety Manager for each field operation.
  • Prepare and maintain daily field reports documenting work progress, manpower, equipment, and site conditions.
  • Track installed quantities of work for progress reporting and payment applications.
  • Maintain organized records of RFIs, submittals, drawings, and inspection reports.
  • Document construction activities through photographs and written logs.
  • Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Identify design conflicts, constructability issues, or field conditions that differ from plans.
  • Prepare Requests for Information (RFIs) as needed.
  • Perform field inspections to ensure work complies with project plans and specifications.
  • Verify proper installation of materials including utilities, concrete, asphalt, and structural elements.
  • Coordinate testing and inspections with third-party labs and city inspectors.
  • Assist in tracking quality control documentation and testing results.
  • Coordinate work sequencing and ensure materials and equipment are available when needed.
  • Assist with planning upcoming work activities and resolving field issues.
  • Promote and maintain safe work practices on site; participate in safety meetings and assist in monitoring compliance with safety procedures.
  • Report unsafe conditions and support corrective actions.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience construction estimating support, engineering, field support, or similar experience.
  • OSHA certification required. 
  • Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawing and specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to discipline.
  • Ability to perform calculations either manually or with a calculator.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with construction layout and survey equipment.

·       Ability to walk uneven terrain on construction sites and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

·       Ability and willingness to travel and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Base Compensation: $70K-$90K , depending on experience

Salary : $70,000 - $90,000
