Expedition Session Workers
Wanted in Greater London and Hertfordshire
A typical 2 day Bronze expedition rate whilst camping starts from £185 and increases, depending on your level of experience and your role, up to £310 for qualified persons acting as an expedition lead. Please get in touch if you would like further information on what rates may be applicable to you.
Half and full day sessions also available
Are you looking for some session work to fit around your other commitments? Are you excellent at engaging, inspiring and training young people?
JLGB is looking to hire session workers to support our programmes and activities, including on Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expeditions and training sessions. With more young people taking part than ever before, JLGB has school sessions and expedition work is available most week days and Sundays between now and August.
The chosen candidates will be hard-working, enthusiastic and reliable. You can choose to do work in schools or on expeditions or both. You will need to be sensitive to the needs of faith communities when working with JLGB’s young stakeholders and their families, and be respectful of their observance, dietary and practise needs.
Full training will be given and no DofE experience is necessary, although it is desirable.
On Expeditions You Will Be Required To
- Lead groups of young people between 14 and 18 years old
- Camp overnight during two or three day expeditions
- Provide supportive, encouraging and inspirational leadership in engaging young people in the DofE Award
- Ensure all JLGB’s DofE standards, policies and safeguarding procedures are adhered to
- Experience of working with young people
- Excellent communication skills with both adults and young people
- An ability to organise and plan effectively
- Able to provide inspirational leadership and motivate young people
- Plan, manage and monitor own tasks and time
- Enhanced DBS check (JLGB can facilitate this)
- Full UK driving license required for expedition work
