Join one of the best heavy civil firms in the Midwest that self-performs highway and large site development projects across the region. We need another strong Concrete Paving Superintendent on a large project near St. Louis.
The Paving Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all phases of concrete paving operations, ensuring high-quality workmanship, safety compliance, efficient scheduling, and cost-effective execution. This role requires deep knowledge of concrete paving processes, equipment, and materials—including slipform paving operations—and proven leadership experience on roadway, highway, or airfield paving projects.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage daily concrete paving operations, including labor, equipment, and materials.
- Plan, schedule, and sequence paving activities to meet project deadlines and production goals.
- Monitor concrete quality, slump, air content, finishing standards, cure timing, and compliance with all project specifications.
- Oversee slipform paving, stringline/stringless operations, and finishing processes to ensure uniformity and smoothness.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, survey/GPS technicians, subcontractors, and inspectors to ensure smooth and timely execution of work.
Desired Experience:
- 5 years of experience in a supervisory or superintendent role overseeing concrete paving crews on large highway, airports, etc.
- Strong understanding of DOT standards, concrete mix designs, QC/QA practices, and environmental regulations.
- Able to read and interpret job plans, specs, drawings, and contracts.
- Strong knowledge of slipform pavers and supporting machinery.
Compensation:
Salary range $140-$160k based on experience.
