Maintenance Buyer

Performs all purchasing activities related to Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) buying purchases all materials and supplies that are needed to maintain and repair equipment, machinery, and building. Maintains parts inventory. Coordinates maintenance planning activities. Manages computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

Key Responsibilities:

Contacts vendors and obtains prices and specifications as needed.

Processes requisitions – includes quotes from vendors, req approval and creating POs.

Manage parts inventory - includes CMMS database and actual inventory. Maintains and adjusts inventory levels, parts room organization, and restocking.

Performs cost tracking and expediting.

Requires good MS Word & Excel computer skills and minimum 2 years’ experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) such as JD Edwards, SAP, Maximo, or MP2.

Requires good working knowledge of parts, procedures, & processes common to industrial maintenance.

Must be able to read drawings & technical manuals.

Must have professional phone skills.

Must be able to use fax machine, copier, and calculator.

Requires good arithmetic skills.

Must have good organizational skills to handle high volume.

Food industry experience & bilingual skills in Spanish strongly desired.

Asist A/P in resolving discrepancies between POs, invoices and receiving.

Responds to emergencies.

Follows-up with vendors to ensure orders are processed, obtaining status as needed, and are received by requesting party.

Coordinates maintenance planning activities by communicating part availability for planned work.

Follows J&J Snack Food’s Food Safety Plan (FSP), the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program, the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and the Good Documentation Practices (GDPs).

Follows all OSHA safety rules and all food safety laws and regulations.

Oher duties as assigned. 

Position Requirements:

Education and Training:

High School Diploma or GED

Minimum 3 years related experience as buyer in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Technical knowledge and skills:

Requires good MS Word & Excel computer skills and minimum 2 years’ experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) such as JD Edwards, SAP, Maximo, or MP2.

Requires good working knowledge of parts, procedures, & processes common to industrial maintenance.

Must be able to read drawings & technical manuals.
