What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Residential HVAC Service Technician position at JJS Group?
About the Opportunity We are a premier, locally owned HVAC company of 26 employees proudly serving Western Colorado. We are actively looking for a seasoned, highly autonomous Residential HVAC Service Technician to act as the face of our company in the field.
We don't want to micromanage you, and we don't want to train you on the basics. We are looking for a true "do-it-all" professional who can be handed a work order, drive to the client's home, accurately diagnose the issue, and communicate the solution with confidence and professionalism. If you are a veteran technician looking for a shop that respects your time, your trade, and rewards your expertise, we want to talk to you.
What You Will Do (The Role):
- Independent Service & Diagnostics: Autonomously troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair residential forced-air units, gas furnaces, and complex ventilation systems optimized for cold-weather environments.
- Full-Cycle Execution: Successfully drop, energize, and commission new units, while possessing the deep technical knowledge to troubleshoot and revive existing, older systems.
- Client-Facing Professionalism: Act as the primary point of contact for homeowners. Explain mechanical issues, present repair vs. replacement options, and provide top-tier customer service.
- Electrical & Mechanical Expertise: Perform high and low-voltage electrical diagnostics, combustion analysis, and refrigerant handling safely and accurately.
- Installation Support: Assist with or lead new service installations when necessary, including properly running line sets and fitting custom metal ductwork.
- On-Call Rotation: Participate in our rotating "on-call" schedule to support our residential emergency service program.
What You Bring (The Requirements):
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of solid, hands-on residential HVAC service and repair experience working independently.
- Autonomy: You must be a fully self-sufficient technician. You should not require basic technical training or management oversight to complete a job from start to finish.
- Certifications: Active EPA Universal Certification, NATE Core, Combustion Analyst, etc. are a massive plus.
- Clearances: A valid driver's license with a relatively clean driving record and the ability to pass a standard background check.
Why Work With Us? (The Perks & Benefits): We believe that if we take care of our technicians, our technicians will take care of our customers.
- Half-Day Fridays! Work Monday–Thursday (6:00 AM - 7:00 AM start) and finish by 12:00 PM every Friday so you can start your weekend early.
- $500/Month Healthcare Allowance: Fully covers a local direct primary care clinic membership (zero copays for unlimited visits, x-rays, and in-house labs) with leftover funds available for supplemental policies like Aflac.
- Immediate PTO: We waive the standard 1-year waiting period and offer immediate paid time off for experienced, senior-level hires.
- Relocation Assistance: Want to escape big-city traffic for a beautiful Western Colorado mountain-town lifestyle? Let us know what you need to make the move, and we will work with you.
