What are the responsibilities and job description for the Concrete estimator position at JJJ CONCRETE CORP?
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Concrete Estimator to join our team. The Concrete Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and residential concrete projects. This position requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of construction methods, and the ability to review plans and specifications to determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs. The ideal candidate will help ensure competitive and profitable bids while supporting project success from preconstruction through project handoff.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for concrete-related work, including foundations, slabs, walls, sidewalks, curbs, and structural concrete.
- Prepare accurate and timely cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
- Analyze project risks and identify value.
- Prepare bid proposals and assist with contract negotiations.
- Maintain estimating databases, cost histories, and unit pricing.
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and operations teams during project handoff.
- Track awarded and lost projects to improve future estimating accuracy.
- Stay current on market pricing, construction trends, and industry standards.
Qualifications
Required
- 3 years of estimating experience in concrete construction.
- Strong understanding of concrete construction methods and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent communication and time-management abilities.

Preferred
- Experience with commercial and residential concrete projects.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Procore, BuildingConnected, or similar software.
