Yard Helper / Company Errand Driver

Jireh Asphalt & Concrete is a growing, family-owned construction company. We are hiring a dependable Yard Helper / Company Errand Driver to keep our crews supplied, complete local pickups and deliveries, and help keep our Everett yard safe and organized.

This is a hands-on support role. Some days will focus on parts, materials, and supply runs. Other days will include organizing the yard, staging tools and materials, handling returns, cleaning work areas, and helping the team with routine tasks. The right person drives safely, checks details before leaving a supplier or job site, communicates delays quickly, and follows each task through to completion.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Use an authorized company vehicle to pick up and deliver parts, tools, supplies, documents, and materials.

- Complete local errands between the Everett yard, suppliers, offices, and job sites.

- Check pickup instructions, quantities, and item descriptions before leaving a supplier.

- Keep receipts and record the purchaser, business purpose, project or overhead category, and any missing or incorrect item.

- Communicate completed pickups, delays, vehicle concerns, and changes in instructions.

- Keep the yard, storage areas, tools, materials, and traffic lanes organized and clean.

- Help stage, load, unload, and put away tools and materials using safe work practices.

- Assist with returns, inventory checks, vehicle fueling, and basic visual vehicle checks.

- Take work photos and complete simple mobile forms or updates when required.

- Operate equipment only after company training and authorization.

- Follow company driving, safety, PPE, and job-site rules.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Valid Washington driver's license for the assigned vehicle.

- Driving record that meets company and insurance requirements. Authorization to review the driving record will be handled during the hiring process; do not send a driver's-license number or record by text.

- Ability to communicate in English with dispatch, suppliers, and job-site staff, understand safety directions, and confirm pickup and delivery details.

- Dependable attendance, safe driving habits, and reliable follow-through.

- Ability to perform active yard, loading, unloading, cleanup, and material-handling work, with or without reasonable accommodation.

- Comfort working outdoors in changing weather and moving between the yard, suppliers, and active job sites.

- Comfortable using a smartphone for calls, text messages, navigation, photos, schedules, and simple online forms.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

- Prior work in delivery, construction, a yard, a warehouse, parts pickup, inventory, or material handling.

- Experience driving a pickup truck, cargo van, or similar company vehicle.

- Familiarity with construction tools, materials, or equipment.

- Spanish language skills are helpful but not required.

TECHNOLOGY AND AI READINESS

You must be willing to use company-approved phone and cloud tools for schedules, navigation, photos, forms, and work updates. You must also be willing to learn approved AI tools such as ChatGPT when they can help organize a task or write a clear update. Prior AI experience and a personal paid account are not required. You must check AI-assisted work before using it and keep customer, employee, vehicle, payment, and other confidential information out of tools that are not approved for that data.

SCHEDULE AND BENEFITS

- Approximately 20–30 hours per week to start.

- Weekday availability is required; start and end times may vary with pickups, deliveries, and project needs.

- In-person work based at our Everett yard, with local driving to suppliers and job sites.

- Opportunity to grow into a full-time position; no conversion date or minimum weekly hours are guaranteed.

- Washington paid sick leave is provided as required by law.

- Employees who move into an eligible full-time position receive health, dental, vision, and paid-holiday benefits after 90 days, and vacation eligibility after one year.
