Responsibilities
- Safely operate motor coaches on city streets, highways, and designated routes while following all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each trip to ensure mechanical integrity and compliance with safety standards
- Assist passengers with boarding, alighting, and providing special needs or passenger assistance as required
- Maintain clear communication with dispatch using two-way radios for driver updates, route changes, or emergency situations
- Navigate efficiently through city streets, managing traffic conditions and adverse weather to ensure timely arrivals
- Perform routine maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues promptly to maintenance teams
- Adhere strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, state transportation laws, and safety protocols during all driving activities
Skills
- Proven experience in bus driving, shuttle driving, or delivery driving with a strong understanding of vehicle operations and maintenance
- Mechanical knowledge to identify basic vehicle issues and perform pre-trip inspections confidently
- Expertise in operating air brake systems and understanding motor coach-specific features
- Knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations, and city street navigation techniques
- Excellent communication skills for passenger assistance and driver-to-dispatch interactions using two-way radios
- Ability to drive in adverse weather conditions safely while maintaining passenger safety at all times
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to assist passengers with special needs or mobility challenges
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for motor coach operation and passenger transport
- Familiarity with vehicle inspections, defensive driving techniques, and transportation safety standards
