Job Description:
The Production Supervisor is a member of the Production team and responsible for leading work teams in a fast paced, High precision, manufacturing environment. The Supervisor will allocate people resources, give direction for work assignments, provide on-the-job training, ensure safety work practices are followed, ensure standardized work is followed, and drive continuous improvement solutions to improve manufacturing KPIs, including quality, cost, delivery, inventory, housekeeping, absenteeism, operational efficiency (OEE), labor, etc.
Responsibilities
- Allocate people resources based on the production schedule.
- Manage the on-the-job training process for assigned employees, including to ensure standardized work processes are followed and cross-training is practiced for all positions on the team.
- Assist in tracking and Managing attendance for assigned employees
- Maintain production reports and generate ad-hoc reports as needed/requested.
- Lead and/or participate in continuous improvement, including Kaizen projects, centered on safety, cost, quality and throughput to improve operational performance.
- Ensure safe work practices are followed, including to enforce the use of designated safety tools, immediately address any unsafe condition in the operation and participate in investigations to uncover root cause of safety incidents.
- Collaborate with other functional groups, such as Maintenance and Engineering, to maintain uptime and efficiency of the production lines and machines while providing support for TPM, equipment improvements, updates, etc.
- Conduct regular communication forums with team, including daily start-of-shift and end-of-shift meetings, safety tool-box talks, production updates, alerts for safety, quality, etc.
- Attend training sponsored by the organization or external sources to maintain and enhance leadership skills and technical expertise for the production processes, machines, etc.
May lead and/or participate on established teams or committees, such as Safety Committee, Employee Suggestion, Community Involvement, Employee Engagement, 8D problem solving sessions, etc.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma required.
- Associate’s Degree or higher in a relevant field preferred
- At least 1 year in automotive manufacturing work environment preferred.
- Must be knowledgeable with production KPIs, specifically, OEE, quality, labor, etc.
- Must be familiar standards and areas of compliance for automotive manufacturing, including OSHA, MIOSHA, ISO, etc.
- Preferred knowledge of problem-solving processes, including 8D, 5 Why, Six Sigma, Cause/Effect, etc.
- Must be able to work any shift and overtime as required.
- Excellent organization, written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with various levels of employees.
