What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Art Instructor position at Jimmy Potters Studio?
WE'RE HIRING — SUMMER CAMP INSTRUCTOR!
Jimmy Potters Studio & Workshop is looking for PUNCTUAL, ENTHUSIASTIC, HIGH-ENERGY instructors to join our team this summer!
We bring hands-on clay and painting workshops directly to schools and summer camps across DC and Montgomery County — and we need amazing people to help us make this the best summer yet!
What you'll do:
Lead fun, creative clay and canvas painting workshops for kids ages 5–12. You'll travel to schools and camps in the DMV area, set up your workspace, guide children through awesome hands-on projects, and leave every session with big smiles all around.
What we're looking for:
- 1–2 years of experience working with daycare or early childhood-age children (this is a must!)
- Your own reliable transportation (required — this is a mobile position)
- Valid driver’s license and full insurance
- Punctuality — you show up on time, every time (20 min early is on time for us!)
- High energy & enthusiasm that kids can feel the moment you walk in
- Must pass a criminal background check
Bonus points if you:
- Have prior summer camp teaching experience
- Speak Spanish, French, or Mandarin
- Have a background in art, ceramics, or education
No ceramics experience? No problem! We provide full training on all pottery techniques and curriculum. What we can’t train is heart — and that’s what we’re really looking for. If you love kids and bring the energy, we’ll teach you the rest.
When: mid June – August 2026
Where: DMV & Montgomery County (mobile — you travel to the sites)
