Private Music Instructor

Jim's Music & Teaching Center
Mountain, MI Full Time
POSTED ON 5/31/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 7/31/2026

Job description

Are you skilled at playing an instrument and wondering if you can make money doing it? Jim's Music is looking for additional instructors to meet our growing demands.

We are seeking instructors, entry-level to experienced, who can maintain regular attendance, participate in recitals, build relationships with customers, and help our students grow into fine musicians. The ability to read staff notation is a major plus and will only be overlooked if significant skill can be shown.

We are seeking Instructors who can teach any combination of the following but right now mainly the following in bold:

  • Guitar
  • Bass
  • Ukulele
  • Other fretted instruments like Banjo or Mandolin
  • Piano
  • Drum set
  • Woodwind (Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, etc.)
  • Brass (Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone/Euphonium, Tuba, French Horn, etc.)
  • Percussion (Bells, Xylophone, Marimba, Snare/Parade Drum, Trio/Quads/Quints, etc.)
  • Orchestra (Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass)
  • Vocal/Voice

Jim's Music provides our instructors with rooms, flexible hours, and promotions to help build your student base. We handle all the billing, scheduling, and marketing. Online sign-ups and digital calendars are provided and you can view them on your smartphone.

We've done away with not getting paid for no-show students with our auto-billing system. Due to the pandemic we got a crash course in offering online video lessons via the web. We will continue to offer that option to our students and teachers for a while, however this is an in-store job. Online lessons will be taught from in-store.

We do our best to make it so all you have to do is show up and teach.

Commission, quarterly retention bonuses, in-store discounts, and vacation days are available after 3 months.
