Duties
- Safely operate a range of commercial vehicles including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks across designated routes.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using manual handling skills or equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with all federal and state regulations.
- Deliver freight accurately and on time to various destinations, adhering to route schedules and traffic laws.
- Manage documentation related to deliveries, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, and inspection logs.
- Maintain communication with dispatchers regarding route progress, delays, or issues encountered during trips.
- Assist with securing loads on flatbeds or other specialized trailers to prevent shifting during transit.
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with clean driving record; experience operating manual transmission vehicles preferred.
- Proven truck driving experience with a focus on freight delivery; familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks is a plus.
- Ability to load & unload freight efficiently using manual handling techniques or forklift operation if certified.
- Strong knowledge of route driving best practices and safety regulations governing commercial transportation.
- Physical stamina to handle long hours on the road and perform load securement tasks; ability to lift heavy items as required.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with dispatch and customers; reliable attendance is essential.
