Responsibilities
- Identify and select appropriate tools and equipment required to complete assigned tasks.
- Assemble and fabricate structural steel, equipment, towers, vessels, conveyors, and related components based on supervisor direction and construction drawings.
- Assemble and utilize hoisting and rigging equipment, including cables, pulleys, chain falls, and related devices, to move heavy materials and equipment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of standard hand and mechanical signaling practices; signaling certifications are a plus.
- Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of structural steel members using plumb bobs, lasers, transits, and levels.
- Position structural steel and equipment for installation by pulling, pushing, or prying into place prior to bolting or securing.
- Connect and secure structural steel members in accordance with project specifications, drawings, and supervisor instructions.
- Modify structural steel components through cutting and welding as required.
- Unload, stage, and position prefabricated materials and equipment for hoisting and installation.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of Journeyman Ironworker experience.
- At least 1 year of experience working in an industrial environment.
- Proven knowledge of safe steel erection and rigging practices.
- Experience providing quality, professional, customer-focused service.
- Ability to safely work at heights up to and exceeding 100 feet.
Required Skills
- Adaptable with the ability to remain calm and solve problems in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking work environment.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
Work Environment
- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Position requires strenuous physical activity for extended periods under varying and adverse field conditions.
- Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs.
- Requires standing, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing, kneeling, bending, twisting, reaching overhead, grasping, and pushing/pulling.
