Position Overview
JGM is looking for a Project Accountant to assist the Finance and Accounting Department in providing accurate and timely project reports and work-in-process schedules. You will schedule, plan, forecast, and manage activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from initiation to close out. Role will report directly to the Company Controller and will be integral in Company’s growth.
Responsibilities
- Oversee project setup completion in the ERP system to ensure seamless financial operations throughout each project.
- Generate timely bi-weekly and retainage billings.
- Assist in monthly financial projections to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Review projects for accurate revenue recognition and provide project analysis and recommendations based on findings.
- Review and enter change management events for the project team.
- Review and analyze job cost reports with Project Managers to ensure accurate cost coding and profitability tracking.
- Assist in developing standardized project accounting procedures as the company scales to new facilities and markets.
- Create and monitor project purchase orders and subcontracts.
- Communicate and coordinate with all internal and external project stakeholders, including owners, customers, vendors, subcontractors, and operational divisions.
- Complete other accounting-related duties, create ad hoc reports, and assist with special projects as needed.
Required Experience And Education
- 5-10 years of proven working experience as a Project Accountant.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and its formulas.
- Familiarity with GAAP.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Beginning leadership skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Experience with Viewpoint Spectrum ERP is a plus.
- Exposure to SQL databases and report generation is a plus.
- Previous experience in auditing is a plus.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- General office environment conditions.
- In-office work requirement, with the option to work from home up to one day per week following a positive performance review and nine months of employment.
