What are the responsibilities and job description for the Freight Sorter position at JF FREIGHT EXPRESS, INC?
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Freight Sorter to join our warehouse team. In this role, you will be responsible for sorting, organizing, and moving incoming and outgoing freight to ensure shipments are processed accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Sort packages, freight, and materials according to destination, route, or shipment requirements
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers
- Move freight to designated staging and storage areas
- Verify labels, shipping information, and package counts
- Scan and track freight using warehouse equipment or handheld scanners
- Identify and report damaged, missing, or incorrectly labeled items
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of safety hazards
- Follow warehouse procedures and all workplace safety guidelines
- Work with team members to meet daily shipping and receiving goals
- Perform other general warehouse duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous warehouse, freight handling, sorting, or shipping experience is helpful but not required
- Ability to lift and move packages throughout the shift
- Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and performing repetitive physical tasks
- Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment
- Good attention to detail and organizational skills
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
Pay: $25.40 - $30.70 per hour
