Director of Quality Improvement



Job Summary


The Director of Quality Improvement is responsible for planning, executing, and continued improvement/support of all quality initiatives within JFS. This role will spearhead the accreditation process along with many of the components to ensure compliance with standards, best practices, and organizational needs.



Principal Accountabilities 


  • Project Management - Administer complex projects from initiation and planning to execution and close out. Develop annual and quarterly plans (QI, RPM, Incident Reporting, Sentinel Events, etc.), Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Best Practices/Quality Improvement Committee – Chair and facilitate the BP/QI meeting comprised of agency program and department directors to ensure consistency in agency operational processes, data management and outcomes management.
  • Accreditation – Primary lead for the agency’s accreditation. Collaborate with agency directors to manage the accreditation process with standard compliance, logistics of survey process, and follow-up with ongoing maintenance and correction plans. Maintain the COA annual reporting along with reviewing and implementing updated standards from COA. 
  • Utilization Reviews - Oversee quarterly case record review process and corrective action plans for all programs to ensure compliance with documentation requirements and best practices.
  • Problem Resolution - Work with managers to identify and resolve persistent and lingering process issues.
  • Policies - Prepare and implement quality assurance procedures and agency policies to meet COA standards and maintain an operations manual.
  • Record Keeping - Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Procurement - Participate in identifying, evaluating and selecting the selection of vendors for assigned projects.
  • Security and Privacy –Adhere to agency and client protection policies by regularly acclimating yourself with the JFS privacy, safety and security policies made available within the employee handbook.
  • Employee Philanthropy –Participate annually in agency and partner related philanthropic activities and campaigns.
  • Mission Dedication –Embody the mission and values of JFS in all work done on behalf of the agency. Utilization of the JFS key strategies will ensure success in this accountability.
  • Misc. – Other duties as assigned by management.





Minimum Qualifications (Guideline oriented - quantitate)


Experience: minimum 3 years’ experience in quality improvement process, healthcare/social service setting preferred. Experience with accreditation process, JFS is COA accredited.


Education: minimum of bachelor’s in business, IT or related field or equivalent work experience


Certifications or Licenses Required: Master’s or PMP preferred

  • Technology – Interact with a variety of databases to gather metrics and determine functionality improvements to meet the agency’s needs.
  • Analysis – Analyze raw data to determine patterns and discern the meaning of said patterns.
  • Reporting – Compile analyzed data into reports that supply meaningful, applicable and useful information for stakeholders on their performance against determined metrics.

  • Behavioral Health – Be familiar with best practices and protocols of behavioral health in order to effectively create objective measurements.
  • Project Management – Understand project management protocol areas and processes. Keeps current on changes in processes.
