Summary

The MFIP Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of MFIP Employment Case Managers, as they work with diverse participants who are striving for self-sufficiency through employment. MFIP (Minnesota Family Investment Program) partners closely with Hennepin County to support recipients of public assistance to address challenges related to obtaining and maintaining employment. The MFIP Coordinator assists the Program Manager to cultivate a healthy and supportive work environment and ensures staff have the resources they need to be successful. They bring creative approaches to program design while working within contractual requirements and embody JFCS’s values in their work. They are responsible for performance, data tracking, and outcomes reporting related to the government contract. The MFIP Coordinator will also provide direct services to program participants by carrying a caseload and providing coverage for staff during extended absences.

Salary and Benefits

  • Annual salary is $67,603.20.

Job Duties

Staff Supervision (45%):

  • Provide leadership and supervision for all assigned staff.
  • Cultivate staff engagement and lead regularly scheduled team meetings that foster group collaboration.
  • Provide and model frequent feedback, performance development coaching, and hold staff accountable for meeting performance expectations.
  • Make case assignments and manage workloads and workflow. Lead in the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of new staff.

Direct Service (35%):

  • Provide in-person and virtual services to participants.
  • Maintain a small caseload (approximately 35% of an employment counselor caseload) and manage staff member caseloads during extended absences.
  • Assess participants’ strengths, challenges, and needs, and develop individual employment plans in collaboration with the participants.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records, correspondence and reports.

Program Management (20%)

  • Assist the Program Manager to collect and analyze data, evaluate outcomes, and develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager in developing and implementing plans for strategic growth and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels in the Minneapolis office location.
  • Comply with funder documentation, reporting, invoicing, auditing, and other contract requirements.
  • Represent JFCS at funder and community meetings.

Requirements:

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing MFIP employment services (MFIP Lead experience preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in non-profit program management, employment training and counseling, and/or other related experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising a team of direct service staff, including hiring and training.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing services for government contracts.
  • Experience developing relationships with people from diverse backgrounds, such as differences related to culture, religion, financial resources, race, national origin, age, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, and abilities.
  • Bilingual Somali, Spanish, or Russian (preferred).

  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse individuals in a service-oriented environment preferred.
  • Experience working and building relationships virtually and remotely (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of principles, procedures, and best practices in the field of workforce development and employment.
  • Knowledge of MFIP.
  • Strong organizational, management, decision-making and problem-solving skills, combined with an ability to create strategies and accountabilities to achieve goals.
  • Effective supervisor – in coaching, supporting, and holding staff accountable for meeting performance expectations, and in supporting staff in individual professional development.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation, evaluation, and follow-up skills.
  • Responsive to change with ability to be flexible and lead as a change agent.
  • Ability to present information in an organized and effective manner, including writing reports and speaking publicly.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and respond appropriately to questions from clients, co-workers, management, and external parties.
  • Knowledge of local job market and employment trends preferred.
  • Proficient working knowledge of email software, the Internet, databases, and common Windows-based programs, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Actively contributes to the agency community by participating in committees, workgroups, or other collaborative efforts that support agency goals and foster a positive work environment.
  • Punctual and reliable attendance.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Requires frequent interpersonal and electronic communication, problem solving, abstract and numerical reasoning. Requires the ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines and complete multiple tasks and handle frequent interruptions. Indoor office environment. Constant use of telephone, computer and copier. Occasional use of fax and other office machines. Must have use of personal transportation for occasional driving, current driver’s license, auto insurance with appropriate coverage limits and clean driving record.
