POSITION SUMMARY
The Communications & Program Manager will lead and implement strategic communications, marketing, and program management for both the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) and the Institute for Holocaust Education (IHE), two agencies of the Jewish Federation of Omaha. This role is equally divided between both organizations, advancing their distinct missions while fostering collaboration and shared community impact.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter, strategic thinker, and skilled project manager who can balance multiple priorities, tailor messages to different audiences, and bring energy and professionalism to representing both organizations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication plans to enhance the JCRC’s visibility and outreach.
- Responsible to create content for social media, newsletters, press releases, story development, community, and board communications across various platforms
- Orchestrate activities across multiple projects, agencies, and community partners with precision and efficiency.
- Assist with logistics, internal and external communications, and implementation of educational programs (e.g. PEW).
- Facilitate the promotion of the JCRC in the community through relationship stewardship within the Jewish community and appropriate external community institutions.
- Support mobilization of local networks in the advocacy of community priorities.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to support training of community facilitators, staff, and volunteers.
- Collaborate on the development and execution of innovative programs and curriculum to fight antisemitism and to assist in achieving the agency’s goals.
- Create proactive and strategic building of innovative relationships and unconventional alliances.
- Collaborate with the JFO marketing department in the development of JCRC’s marketing and communications requests.
- Reliable and predictable attendance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Develop and maintain communications calendars for both organizations.
- Manage
- Ensure brand consistency and mission alignment across all platforms, including social media, newsletters, articles, and websites.
- Track analytics and provide periodic reports on communications performance and audience reach.
- Collaborate closely with the Jewish Federation of Omaha’s central communications team to align with broader community messaging and resources.
- Support the planning and execution of JCRC & IHE programs, community events, and advocacy campaigns.
- Manage event timelines, registration, and partner communication.
- Assist in developing materials and presentations for schools, community partners, and civic groups.
- Track participation, feedback, and outcomes to strengthen future programming.
- Represent JCRC and IHE at community events and serve as a public-facing ambassador for both missions.
Other Requirements
This position may require some time out of the office for programs that occur outside of a traditional work schedule.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Able to develop project/work plans and execute them with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional networking, public speaking and written communication skills.
- Skillful in discerning and navigating organizational and communal dynamics and building trusting relationships.
- Strong project management skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Experience in Adobe Suite products, particularly Adobe Acrobat Pro and InDesign, is desired but not required.
- Experience in project management and project management software desired but not required.
- Experience in social media management software.
- Possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to handle competing priorities and deadlines by demonstrating excellent time management skills.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Works effectively and collaboratively in a team environment or independently as required.
- Bi- or multi-lingual skills desired but not required.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of professional communications experience, ideally in nonprofit, education, or advocacy sectors.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple platforms.
- Proficiency in digital tools and platforms (e.g., social media management, Constant Contact, Canva, Wordpress, and CMS tools).
- Strong project management and organizational skills; able to manage competing deadlines.
- Understanding of and commitment to the missions of the JCRC and IHE.
- Knowledge of Jewish community life and Holocaust education is preferred but not required.
