Salary: $95,000-$130,000Job SummaryThe Director of Admissions at Jewish Community High School (JCHS) advances the schools mission by leading recruitment and admissions operations, strengthening relationships with middle schools and synagogues, and implementing strategic planning and programming that support enrollment goals. This role reports to the Director of Enrollment Management and collaborates with a dedicated professional community.While JCHS is proud to celebrate its 25th year, it is still relatively new in the Bay Areas elite, progressive independent high school market. And JCHS is focused on recruiting students from the Jewish community. For that reason, JCHS depends on more active and creative recruitment initiatives than our peer schools. The Admissions Director is a key leader of those initiatives.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESAdmissions Leadership & CultureEstablish and uphold high standards of excellence in recruitment and admissions practices that reflect the cultural and Jewish values of JCHS.Create a welcoming and personally engaging environment for prospective students and families, emphasizing warmth, respect, and mission alignment.Build and nurture relationships with feeder schools, synagogues, community organizations, and individuals who can support robust enrollment and broaden the applicant pool.Serve as a strategic ambassador for JCHS in the greater San Francisco, Peninsula, Marin, and East Bay areas, representing the schools mission and educational value.Team Leadership & CollaborationDirect and support admissions staff, parent ambassadors, student ambassadors, and board volunteers providing supervision, evaluation, and encouragement.Foster a collaborative environment where all team members contribute to increasing enrollment among students whose potential aligns with the mission and profile of JCHS.Work closely with the marketing team to enhance and align publicity, messaging, events, and outreach strategies that support admissions and retention goals.Strategic Enrollment PlanningDeveloping and implementing strategies toward increasing enrollment among families which can pay full tuition. Help guide JCHS and prospective families through transition from being a school with a majority student population receiving financial support toward a school with a majority student population paying full tuition.Preparing and analyzing data about recruitment, admissions, and retention, and developing strategic responses to that information.Play a key role in guiding the schools long-term vision, contributing to development of a shared strategic plan and coordinated plans across school departments.Lead initiatives aimed at increasing enrollment among families able to pay full tuition and support the schools financial sustainability goals.Community EngagementRepresent JCHS at recruitment events, open houses, synagogue gatherings, school visits, and community partner functions.Engage stakeholders including faculty, staff, parents, and ambassadors encouraging their participation in recruitment and retention efforts.Facilitate admissions events, campus tours, information sessions, and family engagement activities that highlight the strengths, benefits, and culture of the school.Admissions Process OversightOversee all stages of the admissions process, from initial inquiry through application review, interviews, decision communication, and welcoming new students.Ensure a smooth, positive, mission-aligned experience for all prospective students and families.QUALIFICATIONSPreferred 5 years of leadership experience in independent school admissions, secondary education, college/university admissions, or analogous settings.Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred.Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to develop strategic, research-driven plans and act on data insights.Proven ability to lead and inspire teams and manage personnel and volunteers effectively.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and relationship building.Demonstrated success in outreach and motivating volunteers and community partners.Interpersonal warmth, strong work ethic, compassion, sensitivity to community needs, and a genuine affection for and appreciation of Jewish education.A strong commitment to ongoing professional and personal learning.COMPENSATION/BENEFITSAt JCHS salaries are one component of a compensation package that includes retirement contributions, daily Kosher lunch, on-site parking, health, dental, vision, and life/AD&D insurance. The anticipated full-time annual base salary range the school reasonably expects to pay candidates for the position of Admissions Director is $95,000-$130,000 a broad range dependent on factors such as the candidates years of professional experience, advanced training, and progressive educational leadership experience.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
