Role Description
The Benefits & Advocacy Casework Associate will provide direct assistance to individuals and families seeking support in accessing public benefits and community resources. Responsibilities include conducting client intakes, assessing needs, assisting with applications, resolving benefit-related issues, and advocating on behalf of clients. The associate will collaborate with team members and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for clients. This is a hybrid role based in Brooklyn, NY, with the opportunity for some remote work.
Qualifications
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills to effectively engage with clients and stakeholders
- Organizational and time management skills for handling multiple cases and meeting deadlines
- Interest in learning public benefits systems, community resources, and client-related casework
- Computer proficiency, including familiarity with data entry and case management software
- Prior experience in social services, case management, or a related field is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or a related discipline is a plus
- Compassionate and detail-oriented, with a commitment to community service
- Bilingual Russian skills are a plus to better serve a diverse client base
