The Louis S. Wolk Jewish Community Center of Greater Rochester is located alongside the Erie Canal in Brighton. It is a 200,000 square foot facility that houses our state-of-the-art fitness, wellness, and recreation programming, an aquatics center, a Professional Theatre, a Children’s Center, and our camping programs.

We pride ourselves on providing our members with high-quality educational, cultural, and social programming, and we are an inclusive community center that welcomes people of all faiths, backgrounds, and ages.

We are looking for a Part-Time Housekeeper to join our team who is responsible for ensuring the facility is clean and sanitized for all our members, guests, and staff.

  • Evening Tuesday, and Wednesday shift: 4:30 PM - 1:00 AM
  • Evening Saturday, and Sunday: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Clean locker rooms, shower stalls, and washrooms daily.
  • Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub, wax, and polish floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines.
  • Operate various mechanized cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, polishers, and buffers.
  • Wash windows on a regular schedule.
  • Completely strip and recoat all floor areas when necessary and as scheduled.
  • Use ladders, dust, and wash walls, clean shower areas, bathrooms, sink areas, common areas, office, and all areas of classrooms, clean ceiling fans and vents, dust all areas, furniture, light fixtures, and windowsills.
  • Move furniture and equipment to clean areas. May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
  • Empty trash containers daily and are responsible for the disposal of trash.
  • Must handle various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc.
  • Plan work schedule for major tasks.
  • May sweep walks and remove snow or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.
  • Report any needed repairs immediately to the supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and members of the Facility.
  • May perform other duties as requested by management.
  • This is a Union position, and uniforms are provided.

Experience

  • One-year related experience or training preferred but not required

  • Extensive work while standing, extensive walking, reaching with hands and arms, grasping and twisting, climbing, and balance
  • Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Bending and moving continually during working hours
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Lift and/or move over 50 pounds with assistance
  • Use of the computer keyboard

  • Moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, extreme cold
  • Risk of electrical shock, fumes, cleaning chemicals, and outside weather conditions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to inclement weather conditions, i.e., shovel snow, salt, wash windows, pick up trash, and empty garbage.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to dust.
