Tai Chi Instructor

Position Summary:

JCC Denver is seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Tai Chi Instructor to lead classes that promote balance, flexibility, mindfulness, and overall well-being. This role is ideal for someone who values community, inclusivity, and the mind-body connection, and who can adapt instruction to meet the needs of a diverse population.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Tai Chi classes that emphasize proper form, breathing, and flow.
• Provide modifications and support for participants of all ages and abilities.
• Foster a calm, welcoming, and inclusive class environment.
• Educate participants on the physical and mental benefits of Tai Chi.
• Ensure participant safety and proper use of space and equipment.
• Collaborate with the Fitness team to promote wellness programs and events.
• Represent JCC Denver’s values of respect, community, and lifelong learning.

Qualifications:

• Certification or formal training in Tai Chi instruction (Yang, Sun, or other recognized styles).
• CPR/AED certification (required).
• Experience teaching group classes, especially in community or wellness settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt instruction for older adults and individuals with limited mobility.
• Passion for holistic wellness and community engagement.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to demonstrate Tai Chi movements and guide participants through sequences.
• Must be able to stand and move for extended periods.

Schedule:

• Classes may be scheduled during mornings, afternoons, or weekends.
• Opportunities for special workshops or wellness events.
