This role is for an Older Adult Specialist on JASA's Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team in the Bronx. This specialist focuses on providing direct, skill-building support to older adults (age 55 ) with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) to enhance their coping abilities and stability within the community. Salary is $70,000.00 with comprehensive benefits
Core Responsibilities: Direct Client Support & Skill Building
The Older Adult Specialist provides intensive, individualized support and group facilitation to enhance the coping mechanisms and stability of ACT clients.
● Skill-Building Support: Lead individual meetings and support groups focusing on addiction recovery, daily coping skills, problem-solving, and self-advocacy.
● Clinical Assessment & Intervention: Provide evidence-based mental health interventions and administer clinical tools, including mental health screening tools and the Mini Mental Status Exam.
● Community Work: Conduct home and/or institutional visits within the Bronx.
● Case Management: Develop, implement, monitor, and document treatment plans. Provide appropriate information and referrals to clients and collaterals, and provide support and resources for aging adults.
● Team Collaboration: Work in conjunction with other ACT team staff, participate in interdisciplinary team conferences, and actively engage in individual and group clinical supervision.
● Documentation & Compliance: Complete required case records, reports, and statistics within mandated timeframes, utilizing electronic systems (EHR, etc.). Ensure all services meet regulatory requirements.
● On-Call Duty: Rotate 24/7 on-call duties with other team members.

Key Qualifications & Requirements
The role requires a master's level clinician with experience in mental health and a working knowledge of the geriatric population's unique needs.
● Education: Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or similar required.
● License (Preferred): Possession of a NYS professional license (LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, LCAT, LMFT, Clinical Psychology, or similar) Clinical Supervision is provided
● Experience (Preferred): At least two years working in a mental health setting with an older adult population or similar; experience with community visits or intensive treatment work is also desired.
● Specialized Knowledge: Knowledgeable of comorbidities with older adults who have SMI, and familiarity with resources for aging adults.
● Core Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently, and commitment to working collaboratively.
● Cultural Competence: An understanding and appreciation of diversity factors (race, religion, ethnicity, sexual preference, etc.) as they relate to serving clients.
