This role is for a Family Specialist on JASA's Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team in the Bronx, which serves older adults (age 55 ) with Serious Mental Illness (SMI). The specialist focuses on family intervention and support to help clients maintain stability in the community. Salary is $70,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package.
Core Responsibilities: Family Intervention & ACT Team Services
The Family Specialist holds the lead responsibility for integrating family goals and services with the broader ACT team's treatment plan.
● Family Intervention: Conduct family needs assessment and implement family intervention strategies, utilizing techniques like CBT, strength-based therapy, and motivational interviewing.
● Family Support & Coordination: Coordinate/Facilitate Family meetings and provide resources and support to clients and family members to prevent caregiver burnout.
● Clinical & Documentation: Provide evidence-based mental health interventions, administer mental health screening tools and the Cultural Assessment, and complete required case records, reports, and statistics within mandated timeframes using electronic systems (EHR, etc.).
● Community Work: Conduct home and/or institutional visits within the Bronx.
Team Collaboration: Develop, implement, monitor, and document treatment plans in conjunction with other ACT Team staff, and participate actively in individual and group clinical supervision and interdisciplinary team conferences.
● On-Call Duty: Rotate 24/7 on-call duties with other team members.

Key Qualifications & Requirements
The role requires a master's level clinician with experience in mental health or geriatrics, and a deep understanding of family support strategies.
● Education: Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or similar required.
● License (Preferred): Possession of a NYS professional license (LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, LCAT, LMFT, Clinical Psychology, or similar) is preferred. Clinical supervision is provided.
● Experience (Preferred): At least two years working in a mental health setting, or with an older adult population, or similar; experience with community visits or intensive treatment work is also preferred.
● Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with family needs assessments, Family Intervention Strategies, and Psychoeducation/Family Support Services.
● Core Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently, and commitment to working collaboratively on an integrated team.
