What are the responsibilities and job description for the Curriculum Coordinator position at JEWISH ALLIANCE OF GREATER RHODE ISLAND?
The Curriculum Coordinator works in close partnership with the Early Childhood Center (ECC) Director to lead a high-quality, developmentally appropriate program for children from infancy through preschool (birth to age 5). While the ECC Director focuses on day-to-day operations — staffing, licensing, facilities, and compliance — the Curriculum Coordinator owns the educational heart of the program: social-emotional and academic curriculum design, classroom-level coaching, and the integration of Jewish life, culture, and values into daily learning. This role blends Rhode Island Early Learning and Developmental Standards with Jewish values and the Center's mission and serves as the primary curriculum resource and coach for teaching staff across all age-level classrooms.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred, in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on early childhood teaching experience; curriculum development or coaching experience strongly preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of the developmental stages of children from infancy through age 5.
- Knowledge of, or strong willingness to learn, Jewish holidays and the rhythms of Jewish life, and comfort bringing that content into curriculum and classroom practice.
- Strong relationship-building, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across a diverse community.
- Creativity, enthusiasm for teamwork and collaboration, attention to detail, and an eye for design.
- Ability to set priorities and manage multiple classrooms and projects simultaneously; strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn classroom documentation and assessment software (e.g., Teaching Strategies GOLD).
- Current, or ability to obtain, Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification, and training in the administration of medication
