Position Summary
The Heavy Equipment Parts Counter Salesperson is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while supporting daily parts sales and department operations. This role assists customers and service technicians in identifying and purchasing the correct heavy equipment parts, maintains accurate sales and inventory records, and contributes directly to department revenue goals. This position carries an expected monthly parts sales goal of no less than $75,000. This role pays an hourly rate plus commission.
Key Responsibilities
- Update and maintain electronic heavy equipment parts files to ensure accurate and current information
- Maintain up-to-date parts pricing lists in accordance with manufacturer and company guidelines
- Provide required documentation and information to the Warranty Department to support timely filing of parts warranty claims
- Monitor outstanding returns and ensure credits are received for returned parts
- File and maintain company copies of parts counter invoices and related documentation
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all parts sales transactions
- Answer incoming customer phone calls promptly and professionally
- Assist walk-in customers, contractors, and technicians with parts inquiries and purchases
- Accurately identify heavy equipment parts using manufacturer software, catalogs, and technical resources
- Proactively suggest related, upgraded, or preventive maintenance parts to support customer uptime
- Meet or exceed a minimum monthly parts sales goal of $75,000 through strong product knowledge and customer service
- Keep the parts counter, showroom, and storage areas clean, organized, and uncluttered
- Maintain a professional personal appearance consistent with company standards
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Working knowledge of heavy equipment parts and components (construction or agricultural equipment preferred)
- Ability to read parts diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer catalogs
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn dealer parts management systems
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Sales-oriented mindset with the ability to identify customer needs and recommend solutions

Work Environment
This position operates in a heavy equipment dealership parts department with frequent interaction with customers, service technicians, and vendors. Standing, walking, and lifting parts may be required. Occasional exposure to shop environments and outdoor conditions may occur.
