CNC Lathe and Mill Operator

Experienced CNC Machinist

Jewell Group is currently seeking 1st shift (5:30am-4:00pm) and 2nd shift (4:00pm-2:30am) CNC operators/machinists in the production of industrial parts for an assortment of industries. The standard operating schedule is 10-hour days, Monday through Friday (this schedule is subject to change at times based on fluctuating customer deadlines and production needs).

Required Skills and Abilities:

• While day to day operations remain similar, the parts and machines may vary, so the ability to adapt and learn is extremely important.
• Proficient and accurate use of precision-measuring equipment (caliper, groove caliper, pin caliper, micrometer, blade micrometer, bore gage, go-no-go gage, groove gage, height gage, port gage, profilometer, optical comparator).
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
• Excellent hand eye coordination and fine motor skills.
• Ability to read numbers into the thousandths (0.123).
• Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to read and follow simple directions for quality and/or rate.
• Skilled in technology applications.
• 1 year machining experience (preferred).

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Operating a CNC lathe or mill in the production and inspection of metal parts.
• Following customer and company "in-process inspections".
• Review blueprints, drawings, or instructions to understand specifications of output.
• Load machine with raw material to begin operations.
• Properly measure final product using quality assurance devices.
• Check output for acceptable /- tolerance to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects.
• Keep records of approved and defective units or final products.
• Complete set-ups, off-sets, adjustments, tool changes (troubleshooting issues).
• Deburring, cleaning, and packaging finished products.
• Minimizing scrap parts/materials.
• Meeting production goals/quotas.
• Cleaning the machine and surrounding area.
• Follow safety procedures and regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
