What You’ll Do
- Assist in collecting, cleaning, and organizing data from JM Group and authorized third-party sources for analysis.
- Support data scientists in analyzing datasets to identify trends and patterns relevant to product, pricing, and business performance.
- Help develop and test basic statistical models and algorithms under the guidance of senior analytics staff.
- Assist with preparing exhibits, summaries, and visualizations that communicate analytical findings to stakeholders.
- Participate in discussions with business stakeholders to understand goals and help formulate data-driven approaches.
- Support monitoring of product performance metrics on Jewelers Mutual's book of business.
- Document data sources, assumptions, and methodology to support reproducibility of analyses.
- Complete additional analytical projects and tasks as assigned by the Product/Analytics team.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative field with a graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029.
- Basic familiarity with a programming language such as Python, R, or Java for data manipulation and analysis.
- Coursework or exposure to statistical methods and concepts, such as hypothesis testing, regression analysis, or probability theory.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an interest in translating complex data into actionable insights.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
- Experience with PowerPivot, SQL, Power BI, or other query/reporting tools.
- Prior coursework, project, or internship experience working with real-world datasets.
- Familiarity with the insurance industry or interest in the P&C insurance space.
